Percocet and tramadol are both prescription pain relievers, but Percocet is generally stronger. Percocet contains oxycodone, a potent opioid, combined with acetaminophen, making it effective for moderate to severe pain. Tramadol is a weaker opioid that also affects serotonin and norepinephrine, offering moderate pain relief. Because Percocet is more powerful, it also carries higher risks of dependence, sedation, and respiratory depression. Tramadol has a lower abuse potential but can still cause dizziness, nausea, and, rarely, serotonin syndrome. Both medications should be used only under medical supervision based on the severity and type of pain.
