She represented the friendship between France and America, welcomed the tired, poor, "huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the homeless, tempest-tost...” and represented hope, freedom, and liberty. Her crown and her torch represent enlightenment, and her tablet represents rule of law. She now finds herself no longer welcome in her home. She was presented in Paris to America July 4, 1884. Now 151 years later, she no longer feels welcome in her new home.
