It all started in 2001 when Co-Founder and former Head of School Chrissy Aull was experiencing a great challenge as a mother. Her son, Jeb, was a student with ADHD and dyslexia, and she was struggling to find an academic setting in which her son could thrive. With a Master’s in education, Aull and Co-Founder Patricia McGlannan opened Wye River Upper School in September 2002. Three teachers and nine students made the inaugural year possible. To this day, Wye River Upper School continues to move forward with the same powerful conviction that allowed students with learning differences to grow and learn in a responsive environment.
